RECRUIT –
Every Marine is in the rank of recruit during basic training, the so-called "BootCamp", and in our association, every new member must go through this rank during the admission exercise.
PRIVATE –
The first regular rank of "private". It is awarded after completing basic training and is the first rank within the enlisted team.
PRIVATE FIRST CLASS –
The rank of “Private First Class” is where most riflemen in the squad are located. This is the most common rank across the USMC infantry.
LANCE CORPORAL –
the last rank within the team (enlisted). These are Marines who have been retired for a month or year, are more experienced and senior in their service.
CORPORAL –
The first non-commissioned officer rank is “corporal.” In most cases, this is the commander of a fire team within an infantry squad.
SERGEANT –
The rank of “sergeant” is symbolic for the American armed forces or police forces. Within the USMC infantry, a sergeant holds the position of commander of a 13-member squad or specialized fire team.
STAFF SERGEANT –
The first rank of SNCO is “senior non-commissioned officers.” He also serves as the commander of an infantry squad or other shooting party of up to 21 people.
GUNNERY SERGEANT –
Also known as a "gunny", he is usually assigned to each infantry platoon as the right-hand man of the commanding officer. He takes care of the team, their morale, and in combat can act as the commander of any unit in the platoon.
OFFICERS
SECOND LIEUTENANT & FIRST LIEUTENANT –
The ranks of second lieutenant and lieutenant are the first officer ranks. A college degree is required to achieve this rank. Lieutenants usually command a smaller group called a platoon, which consists of up to three infantry squads, a total of over 30 Marines.
CAPTAIN –
He commands an entire “company” consisting of up to five “platoons.” He may also serve as an instructor, logistics officer, and other specific roles.
MAJOR –
A higher officer rank with different job responsibilities. He can command combat groups but also, for example, a logistical ceremony within a base.
